About this book
WHY ISRAEL: NEW BEGINNINGS Is Israel special? Are the Jewish people special? What about Jerusalem? These exciting and current questions are explored in a popular style, easily accessible for personal and group Bible study. The author considers the teaching of the Bible in the context of current relationships in the Middle East on the role of the Palestinians, the place of Islam and its meaning for the church. He looks at the concepts of 'replacement theology,' 'election,' and covenant to show that the Bible supports the return of the Jewish people to Israel. He challenges the church to resist anti-Semitism if it is to support peace and claim a Scripture-inspired vision for the future. Reverend Willem J. Glashouwer is the current President for Israel International, a non-political inter-denominational Christian organization with branches in the USA, Canada, Germany, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. He is also an ordained minister of the Dutch Reformed Church and a former executive director of the Television Department of the Evangelical Broadcasting Company in the Netherlands. Reverend Glashouwer has played a key role in the establishment of the Dutch Institute for Evangelical Higher Education and, in addition to several books, articles and Bible studies on Israel and the Christian faith, has published a commentary on the Bible book of Revelation. He is married to Marianne, and they have 4 children.
