Finding books
How do I search for a book?
Type a title or an author's name in the search bar at the top of any page. You can also choose a category first to narrow the search. Small spelling mistakes are fine; we'll still find close matches.
How do I browse by category?
Choose “Books” in the menu, then pick a category from the list (on a phone, tap Filter). Many categories also have smaller sections you can narrow down to.
Why is there only one copy of each book?
Every book we sell is second-hand, so each listing is one real copy from our shelves. Where we have several copies of the same title, the book's page lists each one with its own condition and price.
Why has a book I was looking at gone?
Once a copy sells, it's no longer available. We often have another copy or edition of the same title, so try a search, or call us and we'll check the shelves.
What condition are the books in?
They're second-hand, so condition varies. Each copy's page notes its condition and format (for example “Paperback, some wear”). If you'd like to know more about a particular copy, just ask.
Ordering and paying
How do I order?
Add the books you want to your cart and go to the checkout. Fill in your details and place the order. You don't need an account, and nothing is charged at this point.
What happens after I order?
We find each book on the shelves, then email you within 2 working days with the books we have, the total including postage, and how to pay.
How do I pay?
By PayPal or bank transfer, once we've confirmed your books. If you're collecting from the shop, you can also pay by cash or card when you pick them up.
Do you have sales?
Yes, we run sales through the year. Books on sale show the sale price next to the usual price, and any current sale is shown on the home page.
Postage and collecting
Do you post overseas?
Yes, we post anywhere in the world with NZ Post. Postage depends on where you are and how many books you order; we include it in your total before you pay.
How much is postage within New Zealand?
Postage depends on the weight, size of book, and the amount of books we need to ship. We always work on getting the cheapest possible shipping rate and will let you know the price before shipping.
Can I collect my books from the shop?
Yes. Choose “Collect from the shop” at the checkout, and we'll have your books waiting at 21A Main North Road, Papanui. You can pay when you pick them up.
Returns and help
Can I return a book?
If a book arrives damaged or isn't as described, yes. We don't offer change-of-mind refunds. See our returns policy for the details.
I can't find what I'm looking for.
Call us on 03 352 1123 during opening hours or email manager@christianvaluebooks.co.nz, and we'll check the shelves for you.
