About this book
Like the prodigal son of the biblical parable, Western society has run away from God and wasted its inheritance--the Christian beliefs and ethics upon which our culture has been built over centuries. We now find ourselves lost, despairing and hungry. In this collection of incisive essays, Phillip Jensen helps us to understand where we went wrong. He looks in general at 'the problem' generated by our rejection of God, as well as at specific issues (such as utilitarianism) and specific intellectuals (such as Bertrand Russell and John Ralston Saul). Phillip Jensen, now the Dean of Sydney at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney, is well-known for his powerful biblical teaching and evangelism. His penetrating social commentary, seen over the years in the journal kategoria: a critical review, is now gathered in this one volume.
