About this book
“COUNTING AFTERNOONS, the debut album from Christchurch creative Julian Hay, conjures all the highs and lows one would expect from a carefully considered, tirelessly constructed piece of art: which shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that his clear personal style, though eclectic at the first encounter, has all the detail & finesse of an artist comfortable in his own skin.
The album delivers 11 consistently well constructed tracks that cover everything from youthful optimism & childhood nostalgia through to an adult sense of ‘lost & found’. Boasting a full complement of brass, strings and vocals Recorded in Christchurch, produced in Auckland & mastered offshore, the album is every bit as professional as you would expect from a self-confessed perfectionist. Certainly there is never a dull moment.
